Booker from the USA Sports Red Wings Cap at the Paris Olympics

While spectating at the 2024 Olympics in Paris with his Team USA teammates, Phoenix Suns All-Star guard Devin Booker turned heads by rocking a Detroit Red Wings hat. Surprisingly, his teammate and fellow NBA superstars, Kevin Durant, was spotted sitting nearby wearing a Boston Bruins hat, sparking rumors of potential rivalry within the team. It seemed like a lighthearted gesture, but fans couldn't help but speculate on the possibility of an Atlantic Division feud brewing between the two teammates.

It's not the first time that Booker—born and raised in Grand Rapids—has shown a penchant for the Winged Wheel.  He's previously been spotted on the golf course with the same cap on, and at last year's NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, Booker walked into Gainbridge Fieldhouse in a classic red Steve Yzerman sweater, complete with a 1997 Stanley Cup Final patch.

Though Booker, Durant, and Celtics guard Jrue Holiday had the chance to watch Monday's action as fans, Paris is of course a business trip for they and their men's basketball teammates.  Booker, who was a part of the gold medal winning USA team in Tokyo in the previous Olympiad, and Team USA are looking to win their fifth consecutive gold medal.  Booker averaged 10.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in the Americans' three group stage wins.

Team USA will begin its knockout journey tomorrow, taking on Brazil.  If their dominance in the group stage is any indicator, perhaps Yzerman and the '97 Red Wings are an apt comparable.
