New Delhi: The IPL Auction 2025 commenced at the Abadi Al-Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, November 24 at 3:30 PM IST (1:00 PM Local Time). The auction, taking place over November 24 and 25, 2024, allowed franchises to fill a total of 204 spots, including 70 for international players.
The first day of the mega auction saw some remarkable purchases in IPL history. Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player ever, with the Lucknow Super Giants acquiring the wicketkeeper-batter for an eye-popping Rs. 27 crores. This shattered the previous record set by former KKR captain Shreyas Iyer, who was bought by PBKS for Rs. 26.75 crores. Venkatesh Iyer was the third-highest bid of the day, with KKR securing him for Rs. 23.75 crores.
During the two-day mega auction, a total of 574 players were featured, with 330 of them being uncapped. Auctioneer Mallika Sagar presented 84 cricketers on Sunday, including 38 uncapped players. Of the 330 uncapped players, 318 were Indian, while 12 were from overseas. The list also included four players from associate nations.
Indian uncapped players made up a significant portion of the auction pool, highlighting talent from domestic competitions like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and IPL academies. Several young players, including under-19 stars, sparked intense bidding battles.
The overseas uncapped players were a smaller group of 12, showcasing emerging talent from associate nations and other cricket-playing countries. This group included players who had impressed in various leagues such as The Hundred, BBL, and CPL.
The uncapped players in the auction were divided into two base price categories: Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 50 lakh. Most uncapped players were listed in the lower category of Rs. 30 lakh, making them an affordable option for teams seeking emerging talent. Among these players, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 13-year-old from India, stood out as the youngest uncapped player in the pool. Additionally, the auction featured several well-established IPL players, further adding to the excitement. Here is the list of full uncapped players who has been sold on first day of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
