Gary Neville confesses - Mohamed Salah has completely disproved him

Manchester United legend and football pundit Gary Neville has humbly admitted that he was mistaken in his previous assessment of Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.

Salah has established himself as one of the best players on the planet, helping Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

The 32-year-old Egypt international winger has conjured up a remarkable 220 goals and 98 assists in 365 games since joining the Reds from Roma in 2017.

Neville firmly thought that Salah was going to leave Anfield three to five years ago – and did not expect him to be scoring so many goals – or be so ‘brilliant’.

‘I thought he’d leave three, four or five years ago,’ Neville told The Overlap US about Salah.

‘I didn’t think he’d score the goals he did over this time, or be as brilliant as he has.’

Meanwhile, Neville has also shared his thoughts on Salah’s cryptic social media post which was uploaded to Instagram after the recent 2-1 win over Brighton.

‘No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like,’ Salah posted, hinting that his future at the club is up in the air.

Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and it has been previously reported that his time at Liverpool may finally be coming to an end.

Asked about Salah’s Instagram post, Neville added: ‘I don’t know. Is he sending a message to them because he wants a golden package to stay?

‘And that’s him saying, ‘You better value me in the same way as [top] players at other clubs’ – I mean, he’s got a big wage packet already.

‘But maybe he’s saying, ‘Hang on – give me the length of contract and value of contract that I deserve’ – and maybe he is letting the fans know that he is not quite happy, even though he is happy.

‘You know what I mean? The idea that he is happy at the club but something is not quite right. He may be giving them a message.’
