Liverpool star and World Cup winner faces lawsuit from former model girlfriend

Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has revealed that his ex-girlfriend is taking legal action against him following their recent break-up, which occurred just days after he clinched victory in the World Cup.

Mac Allister is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders, with his performances this season helping Arne Slot’s side to a five-point lead at the top of the table.

He moved to Anfield from Brighton for £35million in the summer of 2023, just a few months after playing a key role in Argentina’s World Cup triumph in Qatar.

Memorably assisting his country’s second goal in the final against France, lifting the World Cup has been the highlight of the 25-year-old’s career so far, but his experience of the tournament ended on a sour note.

Shortly after the final in December 2022, Mac Allister broke up with his girlfriend Camila Mayan, and it has now been revealed that she is suing him.

Discussing the matter for the first time, Mac Allister said, as reported by the Mirror: ‘There was no more relationship.

‘She took her path, I took mine, and that’s it. As for the other thing [the lawsuit], everything is in court, where it should be, and we are waiting.

‘I think it’s normal in a relationship. She made the decision to come out and make public things that she felt or that she believes happened, but I know how things went and that’s why I’m very calm.’

Mayan, a model and social media influencer, wants compensation for the years they couple lived abroad.

She has also accused Mac Allister of keeping some of her possessions and being unfaithful to his current partner Ailen Cova.

Of his relationship with Cova, the footballer added: ‘We are well, happy, building our life there in England, enjoying life together.’

Mayan’s lawyer has however disputed Mac Allister’s claim that she made the lawsuit public, stating: ‘The mediation is closed, but there was no agreement. The lawsuit has been filed for some time and the case started more than a year and a half ago.

‘From our side nothing was said. It became known from the other side because Camila does not want to publicise this situation.

‘What she asks for is confidential like any family case, but it is financial compensation. In this case [the amount requested by Mayan] will be determined by a judge based on the evidence presented.’

Meanwhile on the pitch, Mac Allister is currently on international duty and started Argentina’s 2-1 loss to Paraguay on Thursday.

The reigning champions continue their qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday when they host Peru.
