Late James Wilson goal earns Hearts a draw in scrappy Edinburgh derby against Hibs

James Wilson emerged as the savior for Hearts with a timely goal that secured a crucial 1-1 draw against Hibs at Easter Road. The result dealt a blow to the hosts, who now find themselves at the bottom of the Premiership table, increasing the pressure on manager David Gray.

With only goal difference separating the sides at the bottom of the table, Gray was looking for his first Edinburgh derby win as head coach, while new Jambos boss Neil Critchley was looking to make it three straight wins since taking charge.

With so much at stake, it was a nervy encounter as Craig Gordon denied Dwight Gayle who also missed chances for the hosts, while Lawrence Shankland should have scored for the visitors.

Mykola Kukharevych (65) prodded the ball into the net minutes after coming on to spark wild celebrations from the home fans.

But, after Nico Triantis had missed a brilliant chance to put the game out of reach, Alan Forrest flicked the ball to Wilson (87) to slam home the equaliser.

The Hibees, who have not won any of the last five derbies, remain bottom as a result, one goal better on goal difference.
